It All Comes Together. A Word of Encouragement.

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Looking back, I think some of the best advice I could’ve given the younger version of myself would’ve been this… it’ll all come together. I don’t mean life will be perfect. I don’t want you to think the hardships won’t come, but I want you to know that when you finally decide to place your hand in God’s, rest assured, life will always come back together. It may not look like what you’ve envisioned, but that’s okay. You will do more than survive. You will thrive. So hold on, be patient, and stop forcing what isn’t mean to be…because what is will surely come together.

Understanding God’s Character

The God I’ve come to know is kindhearted. His love is full of mercy as we are covered in His grace. He heals our wounds and places His arms around our brokenness. He provides hope in the midst of every storm. He inspires change and brings about peace. He is all that we need as His perfection is our greatest blessing. Yet, it is our inability to fully understand God that brings about our greatest anxieties and frustrations.

We see Him through the only eyes we believe we have, and that is our own. We are unable to see how all of the pieces of life weave together. It is with that lack of knowledge that doubt finds a way to enter our hearts like an all-consuming fire. It burns down what we’ve worked so hard to build up and we are left feeling as though all that we love has been taken from us. As we then navigate through life’s challenges, we are then left to contend with those that would call us foolish for believing in a God that doesn’t send the rain to stop the fires. We begin to then wonder too… is the God we serve is really as amazing as we say He is?

A word of encouragement

When it seems like the pieces of the puzzle just won’t fit, I want to give you a bit of encouragement. There is always rain. It may not be directly in front of us, but if we seek God, we will find it. It may seem easier to sit around and wait for the rain to come, but we may be waiting forever, and none of us have forever to wait. And when you go seeking, make sure you’re looking for God and not for temporary solutions. As I look back at my life thus far, if there is something I could tell the past version of myself, I would whisper these two words… find Him.

And should you feel lost, never forget God’s position on the map doesn’t change even when ours does. We can walk ahead, stay behind, or look above. It’s up to us. Yet, God remains constant. It’s the journey that can make us hesitant to seek the rain we so desperately need. Keep going. God will wash away the pain and the hurt if we let Him. He reveals the beauty that lies beneath the surface. God desires for us to make it through the lessons so we can experience the joys. Never doubt that God is aiming for it all to come together for us, despite what we see lying ahead.

In Isaiah 43:1-2, we find encouragement when God says…

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.”

By trusting in God, we are trusting in perfection. We can have the confidence that when we lay our burdens at the cross, God has the power to remove them. We learn to say okay because it is God who will handle the fight. We pray spiritual wisdom so we can clearly see when to stay versus when it’s time to walk away. We know that God’s way supersedes our way, and we are at peace with that.

So how do I build that trust?

The more time we spend in activities like prayer, devotion, serving others, practicing selfless, and exercising kindness, we begin to live a life of true humility and submission to God. By getting to know Him, we learn the power in laying down the need to look through our own eyes because we’ve given the task of sight to God. We are His children and it is our choice to align ourselves with His will or our own. Just remember, He always wants the best for us, even when we are too shortsighted to understand what that best means. So seek Him and remember, it will all come together. With God, it may not be how we imagined, but that in no way means it’s any less great.
